Man found dead inside his apartment

San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies are conducting a homicide investigation after finding a man dead inside his Rancho Cucamonga home.

The unidentified man’s employer called sheriff’s deputies about 4:15 p.m. Thursday asking if they could check on the man, since he had not been to work and was not answering his phone, according to a sheriff’s news release.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived they found the man’s car in his garage. With help from the property manager they entered his apartment in the 11200 block of 5th Street where the body of the 49-year-old resident was discovered.

There was no sign of forced entry or a struggle, according to the news release, but because the cause of death was not immediately known, officials asked homicide detectives to assist with the investigation.

Woman reportedly assaulted in men’s restroom

A woman said she was sexually assaulted inside a Cal Poly Pomona bathroom by what she described as a large, intimidating man.

About 12:45 p.m. Thursday, the victim walked into the men’s restroom near the university’s running track and Parking Lot K to clean it, according to a school news release.

A man suddenly appeared inside the bathroom, forced the woman against a stall, exposed himself and asked for a “sexual favor,” police said. when he heard a noise outside, the man ran away.

The man was described as black, about 40 years old, about 5-foot-11 and 350 pounds. he had short, black hair and he was missing an upper right tooth.

At the time of the assault, the man was wearing a black scoop neck tank-top that exposed three skull tattoos across his chest, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

The woman also said her attacker appeared dirty, had bloodshot eyes and smelled of urine, according to the news release.
