CHILDREN at Highwood Primary in Bushey Mill Lane are looking forward to the school’s biggest fundraiser of the year, a summer fair between 1pm next Saturday.

The event is organised by the school’s parent teacher association, the Friends of Highwood.

Last year’s event raised £4,000 for the school and organisers hope to do even better this year despite losing the usual venue of the school field due to the school’s current re-building works. Events this year will be staged in the playground and the fair is being supported by Shanly Charitable Trust.

Star event is the main raffle. Tickets cost £1 and the top prize is a White Apple IPAD 2 16GB with wi-fi.

there will be a variety of stalls – some regular favourites and some new ones – as well as a barbecue, drinks tent and ice cream van.

Homemade cakes will be on sale and there will also be face painting, henna tattoos and funky hairspray.

Visitors can try their hands at some of the stalls, including tombola, burst a balloon, hook a duck, hoopla and many more.

Children will also get the chance to explore a fire engine and police vehicles which will be in attendance, subject to emergency calls.

Entrance costs £1 for adults and children go free.
