Police are yet to provide any further description of the men wanted over a gang rape in Wagga Wagga early Saturday morning.
They say a 22 year old woman was attacked by a group of males as she walked along the Sturt Highway in central Wagga on Saturday morning.
The woman was punched and dragged into a yard and sexually assaulted.
Police say a group of pedestrians disturbed the attack and the woman then called a friend who took her to hospital.
Inspector Michael Handley has appealed to the passers by and any other witnesses to contact Wagga police or Crimestoppers.
“It’s always a very worrying situation if women can’t walk alone at night without being attacked by people such as this, it’s a very poor situation indeed,” said Inspector Handley.
Inspector Handley says four Crime Command officers from Sydney are in Wagga to help with the investigation.
He says the sexual asault happened on Saturday between 1.15 and 1.45 AM.
“She was attacked by about three or four male persons and we’re very interested to speak with any people that may have been in the area at the time. They may have been driving along Edward Street, they may have been in any of the side streets or getting fuel at any of the service stations there,” said Inspector Handley.
The woman has told police one of the men had a pierced ear and tribal tattoos on his left arm, while another had a beard.
Inspector Handley says any further description will be released as soon as possible.
