The third annual Barefoot on the Boulevard hosted by Students for a Better Society kicks off Saturday at noon with an eco-music festival.
“But you don’t have to come barefoot!” said Bryan Manderscheid, treasurer.
The event is jammed packed with musical performances, free food, vendors, activities and most of it is free. Students can get henna tattoos, caricatures, partake in T-shirt tie-dying, and face-painting. there will be four main band performances, two of which consist of SMU students.
Kelsey Pearson, community service chair, said the event is very laid back and is really excited for the weekend.
“I’m excited about the Mint coming and catering. the caricatures are always fun too,” Pearson said.
Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 at the event to help raise funds for the Texas Campaign for the Environment. Prizes include, gift cards, concert ticket to the Granada. Last year, SBS raised a few hundred dollars for the green cause.
This outdoor festival will take place on the boulevard. Vendors such as Chipotle, Coca-Cola, Pinkberry and the Mint will be giving away and selling their goods.
Manderscheid said he was really excited about Coca-Cola.
“They are bringing their eco truck. You can stick stuff in there and see stuff being recycled,” Manderscheid said.
The event begins at noon and is free to the public.
