The last week in September has been designated as the national ‘keep kids creative’ week. this week is often celebrated in schools with many activities to stimulate kid’s creative muscles. Parents can also take advantage of this week to do some fun things at home. many parents struggle with finding time to fit creativity in but here are 3 suggestions that can take less than 30 minutes and will still get the kids creative juices going.
House of Cards
Card games can be fun but cards can also be used for other activities. Introduce kids to the art of building a house of cards. this activity can be done almost anywhere with only a deck of cards and a flat surface to build on. use one or more decks of cards and challenge the kids to a contest to see who can build the highest tower or the biggest house. show them how to lean cards against each other so they stand freely. this activity does require some skill and steady hands. If the flat surface is too slippery try laying a dish towel or pillow case down on the surface. this will make it easier to stack the first level of cards. for extra difficulty add household items into the mixture of building material. These might include toilet paper rolls, paper plates, silverware or even small blocks.
Make Lightning
Lighting is a powerful form of static electricity. in this experiment kids can make their own small version of lighting.
Items Needed
Scissors
Styrofoam tray
Metal pie plate
Masking tape
Step 1:
Cut off the corner of the Styrofoam tray in the shape of an L. Bend the L up at the corner. Tape the L to the center of the pie tin on the topside so it forms a handle that can be used to pick up the pie tin without touching the metal.
Step 2:
Rub the remaining Styrofoam tray on your hair really fast for one minute.
Step 3:
Lay the tray upside down on the floor or a table. Pick up the pie tin with the handle.
Step 4:
Drop the pie tin onto the tray. Slowly touch the edge of the pie tin with your finger. it should create a spark.
Step 5:
Pick up the pie tin with the handle and touch it again. Drop the tin on the Styrofoam again.
The experiment can be repeated many times. If the static electricity runs out simply rub the tray on your hair again.
Water Sprinkler Obstacle Course
This is a great game for a hot day when the yard needs to be watered anyway. Set up the sprinklers throughout the yard. mark a starting line and place balls or cones throughout the yard, close to the sprinklers. Challenge each participant to run through the yard and touch the cones or gather the balls then get back to the starting line without getting wet. Time each participant and award prizes for the fastest.
To make the game more challenging have someone stand by the faucet control and randomly turn the sprinklers on and off. An additional challenge can be to see who can run around the course the most times without getting wet.

A lot of people are looking for the most expensive tattoo. This is because they want to know if they can afford it. People are naturally in-love with skin art and we’re also naturally in-love with expensive things. This explains why there are people who would swipe their cards for a $6,747 mobile phone or for a leather jacket that’s worth $13,875. before you say that there’s no one who will buy a leather jacket at that amount, you have to know that they’re almost sold out.
Now, there are a lot of people who are spending a lot of time thinking of what tattoo they should get and rightfully so. They’ll spend all their lives wearing it so they just want to make sure that they’re not going to get sick of it. This is why they’re looking for the world’s most expensive tattoo. they have this misconception that they’ll surely love it. Of course, you have to love a $924,000 tattoo if you already paid for it.
Yes, that’s how much it’s worth. but that’s not the surprise. This is actually a temporary tattoo. It’s made by Shimansky – a jeweler out of South Africa. you just know that this temporary tattoo is decked in jewelries, diamonds to be exact. It’s like they’re trying to make logic out of the hefty price tag by putting diamonds in it. Well, a lot of diamonds.
The world’s most expensive tattoo is actually made up of 612 of Shimansky’s Ideal cut of .5 carat diamonds. Here’s a clearer picture to show you how expensive it is. a .5 carat diamond is a popular choice for engagement rings. This temporary tattoo, with emphasis on temporary, can make 612 girls happy.
This is why somehow; it’s hard to justify paying $924,000 for a temporary tattoo. yes, even if you can afford it. sure, it can make you the star of the party quite literally. but in this time when a lot of noble causes could use that money, it’s hard to justify wearing something like that for the sake of skin art.
If you still don’t think that it’s too expensive, you have to know that you can order 500 custom temporary tattoos for $69. for the price of the world’s most expensive tattoo, you can get 6,500,000 temporary tattoos (13,000 designs at 500 pieces each) or 44,000,000 temporary tattoos of one design.
Choose the Better Temporary Tattoo…
Of course, not a lot of people have that much money to spare. it was just to show you the cheaper option if all you’re after is skin art. if you really must have diamonds, then just buy a diamond ring and wear a temporary tattoo for skin art. with the extra money, you can actually help a lot of noble causes. Team up with a group that’s working on a cause that you believe in. Let’s say that you lost someone to breast cancer. why not team up with a temporary tattoo manufacturer and order a thousand fake tattoos that you can give out or sell to help their noble cause. You’ll also feel good in the process and not even a night of wearing the world’s most expensive temporary tattoo can replace that feeling.
